I love this bahajan for many reasons. But the main reason is that we express our dedication and humbleness to our personal teacher (Guru) the one that leads us from the darkness into the light. "Sharanam" means taking shelter in his greatness. I can tell it really helps and the world would be a paradise if we would have developed the skill to do so.
Singing that bhajan means to me, that I have heard the call, I know how important it is to me and that I am willing to do it, that I want to learn it. It is prayer to be able to give up and it manifests already my decision.
